The TR-16+2AU transformer has been designed for transmission video signals from 16 cameras and additionally two audio signals with twisted pair cables like UTP or FTP, or with one 20-pair cable, cooperating with video transformers TR-1M M16653, TR-1Q M16651, TR-1ECO M16652, or TR-4P M1667. In video channels the device matches the impedance of coaxial line (75 ohm) to impedance of symmetrical line, ensuring transmission up to 400 meters.

In audio channels it permits impedance matching of 600 ohm microphone to the impedance of symmetrical line, allowing for sending audio signal even up to 1200 meters. The transformer is a passive piece of equipment so it does not need any power supply. The loss of audio signal at distance of 1200 meters (two devices and the transmission line) is only 6 dB. Transmission of video and audio signals via symmetrical lines, usually with UTP/STP cables, has the advantage in comparison with employing shielded, coaxial cables, that any interferences cancel each other through the use of differential circuits.

A twisted pair cable can be connected to the RJ-45 socket, or to the terminal strip, with clamping screws. Arrangement of terminals for cameras and audio channels is shown in the first diagram below. Due to possibility of using inputs as outputs and vice versa, the specifications indicate this fact with "input/output" description.
