There is no all-purpose CCTV camera. The comparison below allows to choose an optimum camera for a specific application, from the wide range manufactured by ACTi. The cameras have been grouped according to resolution - megapixel, D1, VGA.
Megapixel cameras are quickly gaining popularity. They set new quality standards in video monitoring, not achievable in previous systems based on analog cameras and typical DVRs. Let's compare a standard D1 camera (720 x 576 = 0.4 Mpix) and "typical megapixel" ACTi camera (1280 x 1024 = 1.3 Mpix) - the latter provides 3 times as much information.
