The panel antenna ATK P4/5.5 GHz is a multi-element microstrip device designed for use in wireless networks. It is advised to employ it in client stations, at distances up to several kilometers from base station, and it may also be used in small base stations. The antenna is also suitable for creating point-to-point links being the backbone of WLAN, at distances from 1 to 4 km. The frontal part of housing is made of UV-proof ABS plastic that is also resistant to weather conditions, including heavy rain (absolute watertightness).

Antenna is one of the main items of wireless network installation, or any other radio communication system, whatever is its physical or logical configuration. The parameters of specific antenna strongly influence general quality of transmission and the area of effective operation of a network. In the case of WLAN, an additional requirement is light and handy mechanical construction.

Antennas built in microstrip technology perfectly meet the above requirements. They ensure not only ease of mounting and esthetic look, but also good electrical parameters, yet being relatively cheap. The distinguishing features of ATK-P4/5.5 are flat gain characteristic and good matching in working band (5150-5850 MHz).

The 5 GHz band is currently used not only by IEEE 802.11a compliant devices, but it is also being exploited by professional wireless data transmission systems, not standardized yet. Furthermore, it is anticipated for the 802.16 (WiMAX) standard. It looks like the band is becoming the main frequency range suitable for non-licensed applications within "the last mile" locality.
