RouterBoard 411 uses RouterOS L3 software (MikroTik license level 3). This level includes client/station mode allowing very efficient connection with base station (Access Point). Atheros AR7130 CPU and large RAM capacity (32 MB) ensure high computing power needed for creating high-capacity wireless network backbones. Cheaper SOHO devices usually have RAM capacity up to 16 MB, which is not sufficient for network backbone but suitable only for wireless access networks.
MikroTik operating system based on Linux is designed for professional web applications. It allows the creation of advanced network systems with static or dynamic routing. Thanks to advanced firewall features and queuing algorithms it enables the user to manage Internet bandwidth in a simple way.
