DSM 20 is intended to aid in the alignment of a satellite dish. With its compact construction, the use of the meter is extremely easy and almost intuitive. It allows a thorough and simultaneous measurement of LNB and control signals. In addition, the instrument allows the user to listen to audio from the SAT channel selected on the receiver, for satellite identification. It is designed for professional SAT TV technicians, as well as for amateurs who want to align their SAT dishes.

SPECIFICATIONS:
  • Readout display: 70 points (6 plus 10 LED graph bar).
  • Frequency range: 860-2400 MHz; max. sensitivity: -50 dBm.
  • FINE Mode - increased sensitivity. Entering and exiting the Fine Mode after pressing the Fine button.
  • BEEP - acoustic signal of the LNB level (it intensifies with the level of LNB signal).
  • Polarization indicator: V, H .
  • 22 kHz signal indicator.
  • LNB current indicator: 10, 100, 200 mA. Evaluation of the correctness of all connections as well as the preliminary assessment of the LNB (max. current consumption of the meter: 70 mA).
  • Monitoring of 6 DiSEqC commands.
  • FIXED LED indicator - identification of the satellite based on the detected audio from the channel selected on the SAT receiver. The lighting LED indicates that the audio signal level is adequate.
  • Earphone socket for listening to the audio signal from the selected channel.

MEASUREMENT
Satellite dish alignment for maximum performance
  • Using a compass, roughly point the dish to a desired satellite.
  • The meter's LNB terminal connect to the LNB, the RECEIVER terminal connect to a SAT receiver or power supply (13...18 V, "+" in the center).
  • Turning the dish, find the strongest signal looking at the SIGNAL LEVEL indicator.
  • Switch the meter to FINE mode and tighten the mounting bolts of the dish. Signal level indicator should be watched for any changes.

  • Plug the audio combiner ("adder") both to the IF socket and AUDIO OUT of a SAT receiver. On the receiver select a channel from a desired satellite. Turn off the DiSEqC signal (it may cause interference). Set the VOL. level to its highest position.
  • Using a compass, roughly point the dish to a desired satellite.
  • The meter's LNB terminal connect to the LNB, the RECEIVER terminal connect with the F socket of the combiner.
  • Turning the dish, find the strongest signal looking at the SIGNAL LEVEL indicator.
  • If the dish is directed at the desired satellite, the FIXED LED will be lit and audio signal will be heard in the earphones. If not, turn the dish until a next max. signal is found.
  • Switch the instrument to its FINE mode and tighten the mounting bolts of the antenna. Signal level indicator should be watched for any changes.
