The stabilized power supply is designed for equipment requiring 12 VDC stabilized voltage (-5...+20%). The output voltage can be set within the range 11.0 V ... 15.0 V, using trim pots, independently for each of three sections (each section with three outputs). The total current capacity of the power supply is 3.0 A. The power supply is equipped with three kinds of protections: short circuit protection (SCP) - independent for each output, overload protection (OLP), and over-voltage protection (OVP). Its metal casing (color: RAL 9003), mountable on a wall, is equipped with LEDs signaling input and output voltages.
The power supply outputs are divided into three sections: A, B and C. Each section has an independent stabilizer with individual potentiometer to adjust its output voltage, and PTC polymer over-current protection. In the case the total current of a section exceeds 1.6 A, it will be automatically cut off (and the LEDs of the section will go off as well). The output voltage of the section can be restored (after eliminating the cause of the failure) by disconnecting all the three outputs or switching off the AC power for at least one minute, and connecting the outputs again or switching on the AC power.
The outputs A1...C3 are separately fused with 500 mA cut-outs or PTC current limiters. The selection of protection elements is performed by setting jumpers.
In the case of choosing cut-out(s), a failure in the circuit of the output (short circuit/overloading) will result in blowing the fuse element and disconnecting the faulty circuit from the other ones (the LED connected to the output will go off). After eliminating the cause of the event, the cut-out has to be replaced with an identical one. Voltage presence at the outputs of the power supply unit is indicated by LEDs on the front panel.
If a circuit is protected with polymer PTC, in the case of short circuit/overloading the output current is limited to a very small value and the corresponding LED also goes off. After disconnecting the circuit and eliminating the cause of the failure, it can be powered again (not earlier than after one minute).
