Terra TDQ-441 R81641 DVB-S/S2 to DVB-T transmodulator is used for reception of DVB-S/S2 (8PSK/QPSK) signals, selection of desired channels and retransmission of them in DVB-C (QAM) format in chosen RF channels. The device allows the user to receive and manage a range of free to air satellite channels. One TDQ-440 R81641 panel can receive channels from eight satellite transponders and convert selected channels into four neighboring DVB-C multiplexes, each with maximum throughput of 53 Mbps. In practice, each of the four multiplexes can carry over ten HD channels. The administrator of the system selects the required channels from the satellite streams and forms four DVB-C multiplexes. In each case, it is neceeesary to remember about 10% safety margin when determining the maximum bit rate for the whole multiplex (typically the ultimate bit rate of a multiplex should not exceed 48 Mbps). The output DVB-C QAM multiplexes are usually distributed to users by a passive network composed of RF splitters/taps. Such a solution is especially convenient in modern hotel TV systems distributing a variety of satellite channels, including HD broadcasts.
Thanks to RJ-45 Ethernet port, the programming of the TDQ-441 R81641 panel is performed via a web browser.
TDQ-440 R81641 unit is dedicated for receiving FTA satellite channels. In the case of encrypted channels, the suitable model is TDQ-420C R81639.
A great advantage of the Terra device is easy integration with other components:
  • multiswitches dSCR/Unicable, which enable independent distribution of DVB-S/S2 signal using one cable
  • with the ttq440 R81622 transmodulator - one panel receives the signal from four DVB-T/T2 multiplexes and then creates 4 adjacent DVB-C QAM multiplexes respectively, enabling reception of 4 digital multiplexes on TV sets equipped with a DVB-C headend
  • streamers IPTV - enable distribution and management of satellite, terrestrial and DVB cable TV offerings via Ethernet (LAN) based on twisted-pair cable
  • optical transmitters - transmit television signals using fibre-optic medium
  • devices dedicated to reception and processing of television signals (channel and broadband amplifiers, analogue and digital modulators)
The R81641 units can be mounted on the R82538 or R82539 DIN rail (also in a RACK cabinet) and powered from DR-60-12 R82532 or UP413 R82533 power supply.
