Details
The tester is used to measure the continuity of LAN cabling. It enables the detection of faulty connections, short circuits and breaks in the cabling. It can be used to test UTP, FTP cables terminated with RJ45 connectors and telephone cables terminated with RJ11 connectors. The device consists of two main parts and a terminator mounted on the two ends of the tested cable section. It has a single function button, which can be used to select one of two operating modes. When the device is switched on, the tester automatically starts to check each conductor separately and, in the case of FTP cables, the correctness of the shield connection to the modular plug. It is also possible to manually set the test for each wire in turn. To change the basic mode in which the device operates, hold down the function button for approximately 2 seconds. In this mode, the function button must be pressed once to proceed to testing the next conductor. The result of the tests is indicated by the lit LEDs.
The tester consists of two parts:
- main part equipped with switch, LEDs, RJ45 and R11 sockets
- auxiliary part (terminator) equipped with LEDs, RJ45 and RJ11 sockets
