The Kidde 7DCO carbon monoxide detector is used for continuous monitoring of premises exposed to the danger of this poisonous gas. The device has been equipped with a new generation electrochemical CO sensor with a 10-year lifespan, by ca. 43% longer than in the case of the series 5 of Kidde and other detectors available in the market. The device has LCD display showing the level of carbon monoxide in the range of 0 to 999 PPM. The CO concentration is measured every second. The sensor is equipped with optical (red LED) and acoustic signaling (85 dB pulsating alarm sound) which automatically starts when a threat is detected. TEST / RESET button on the front panel is used for verifying all functions of the detector and stopping alarms. By pressing another button the user can read the peak (maximum) value of CO concentration stored in the memory of the detector.
Self-diagnostic circuitry of the detector constantly monitors the condition of the sensor, battery and internal circuits - the device informs the user about problems by warning sounds and relevant pieces of information. Thanks to the fact that the unit is battery-powered, it is independent from the AC power network and can be installed in any suitable place. Additionally, a special shockproof construction allows for applications in trailers, campers or on boats. The device is wall-mountable or can be placed on a flat surface. After 10-year protection period the unit will inform users about the necessity of replacing it with a new one.

CO alarm threshold levels and alarm activation times are compliant with EN 50291-1:2010:
- 30 PPM - no alarm before 120 minutes
- 50 PPM - alarm between 60-90 minutes
- 100 PPM - alarm between 10-40 minutes
- 300 PPM - alarm within 3 minutes
The detector has the certificate of compliance with EN 50291-1: 2010 for home CO detectors and with EN 50291-2: 2010 for applications in trailers, campers or on boats. The compliance has been confirmed by an independent research unit - British Standard Institute (BSI).
