Connectors play a very important role in any transmission line. Their construction and quality have direct influence on connection stability, attenuation, return loss, mechanical strength. F connectors in TV antenna systems
F-type connectors are used for making connections in antenna systems based on coaxial cables with 75 Ω impedance. These are usually terrestrial TV, SAT TV, and CATV installations, and sometimes CCTV systems. Their design and quality have a direct impact on the reliability, stability and performance of the connections - signal loss and impedance matching. The available versions:
- twist-on F connectors - are cheap and no special tools are needed for the installation (at the expense of a longer time); the connections are not so reliable as in the case of compression connectors;
- conical compression connectors - ensure more reliable connections, must be compressed with dedicated tool;
- "Self-Install" compression connectors - they combine high reliability and ease of use. No special tools are needed. They are perfect for people who occasionally install small systems. Installed properly, they are fully integrated with the cable;
- professional compression connectors - top quality compression connectors of MASTER and Platinum brands guarantee reliable long-term operation in any environment. The prices are very competitive, the installation with the use of suitable compression tool is very simple and quick. They are especially dedicated for installation companies that install medium- and large-size SMATV and CATV systems.
F MASTER connectors for antenna/cable systems
F-type connectors are used for making connections in antenna systems based on coaxial cables with 75 Ω impedance. Their design and quality have a direct impact on the reliability, stability and performance of the connections - signal loss and impedance matching. The double compression rings in the connectors of MASTER series (on the cable and the O-ring seal on the connector side) fully protect the cables and the connections (also the equipment) against water penetration. The dimensions of the compression elements of the connectors have been specially designed for use on the dedicated cables.
Appropriate design and excellent precision ensure easy installation of the connectors. Precise thread eliminates problems with screwing the connectors on sockets, which can happen with other plugs. The compression method of installation on cables provides high mechanical strength, tightness and stability over time. The straight connectors should be compressed with the E80075 universal compression tool, and the angle connectors with the E80078 tool.
Compressing F connectors on TRISET-11 cable
Installers of large SMATV or cable TV systems well know the problems with terminating thick coaxial cables (diameters above 10 mm, such as TRISET-11 PE E1025) with F connectors. Due to a dense braid, the installation of connectors with inner tubes was cumbersome and required the use of considerable force. The application of the renowned MASTER E80362 connectors eliminates the problem, guaranteeing an easy installation. The first step is to strip the jacket with MASTER insulation stripper E8010. After putting on the connector on the cable end, the next and final step is performed with the use of the all-in-one compression tool MASTER E80075. All the operations take only ten or so seconds.

MASTER BNC compression connectors
Connectors do not have significant impact on the cost of antenna or CCTV systems, but are crucial to signal quality and reliability of such systems, as well as may increase or reduce the amount of installation work. The most popular kind of connectors used in professional applications are compression connectors, much quicker to mount and much more reliable than the rest. The quality of BNC connectors is especially important in professional CCTV systems. Unstable connections may cause problems even at the system startup, and the problems will only multiply in the future. Connectors installed outdoors are exposed to corrosion, which may lead to significant deterioration of signal quality. Large temperature fluctuations can unseal improperly made connectors. This is unacceptable, especially in important applications, such as video surveillance systems in banks or cities.
E8010Appropriate design and excellent accuracy of MASTER connectors eliminates any problems with installing them on cables. They can be easily screwed on sockets, as well. Properly compressed connections are highly resistant to break, due to dual compression rings that also prevent entering of water from the side of the cables and this way protect the connected devices. The indispensable compression tool is either MASTER E80075 or universal MASTER E80078.
Regardless of the type of the connector, a good practice is to use professional tools for the preparation of the cable end.
The MASTER E8010 stripper is a high quality, versatile tool for preparing coaxial cables to install connectors, a must-have device for each installer. The device is equipped with two adjustable blades for RG-59, RG6, Triset-113, Triset Profi oraz Triset-11 cables, plus a knife for stripping computer and telephone cables, and knife for cutting cables.
