Details
The Dahua IPC-HDBW3541F-AS-0280B-S2 camera is part of the WizSense series. These products feature an additional AI chip responsible for analysing live video using deep learning algorithms. Thanks to this feature, the cameras can focus on the most important monitoring objective: detecting people or vehicles. This improves the efficiency of the monitoring system, as unnecessary alarms are not sent to client applications or the monitoring centre.
The device is equipped with a state-of-the-art image sensor with a resolution of 5 Mpix, which guarantees high-quality images both in daylight (wide dynamic range) and at night (Starlight technology, which ensures high sensitivity).
The camera features an attractive, vandal-proof dome housing, making it ideal for a wide range of applications. Furthermore, the available accessories allow for a neat and secure installation.
Key features:
- resolution 5 MPix – 2880 × 1620 at 20 fps
- fixed focal length lens 2.8 mm / 111°
- Starlight technology - high sensitivity 0.005 lx
- infrared illuminator with smart IR function, range up to 30 m *H.265(+) compression / H.264(+) / MJPEG
- image functions: 3D-DNR, WDR, BLC, HLC
- motion detection systems, privacy zones
- intelligent events: line crossing and motion detection in a zone (entry and exit)
- intelligent motion detection SMD4.0 (Smart Motion Detection 4.0)
- RTMP protocol, allowing audio and video streams to be sent directly to popular streaming platforms such as YouTube, Vimeo or Twitch
- alarm connector 1 IN / 1 OUT
- 1 IN / 1 OUT audio connector for connecting a microphone / speaker
- waterproof (IP67), vandal-proof housing
- microSD card recording capability
- 12 V DC power supply or PoE (802.3af)
Key features:
Traditional motion detection worked by detecting changes in the intensity of light reaching a pixel (or larger groups of pixels) on the sensor. Any such change in light triggers detection, which is why the system picks up movement from objects that are irrelevant from a security perspective. Such motion detection is sensitive to, for example, leaves rustling in the wind, flying insects, birds, shadows or precipitation.

The new SMD motion detection system can analyse motion detection events to distinguish between people and vehicles. This ensures that alarm notifications are filtered and unnecessary alarms are blocked. If the system records to a compatible NVR, the footage can be filtered to detect either people or vehicles. The SDM 4.0 feature in the camera is an enhanced version of motion detection, based on deep learning algorithms. Event filtering efficiency reaches 99%, and the detection range has doubled.
The Quick Pick feature allows you to quickly locate an object of interest. It works in conjunction with the recorder – when playing back a recording, simply select the object of interest, such as a person or a vehicle. An AI-based algorithm will search for and mark recordings containing objects with a similar colour pattern.

The camera supports the RTMP (Real-time Streaming Protocol), which is required to connect to popular streaming platforms (Youtube, Vimeo, Facebook, Twitch, etc.). In this way, online broadcasts can be carried out, which are received by a virtually unlimited audience. This is ideal for broadcasting events, such as masses, church services, sports games, training sessions or remote learning.
The camera is equipped with a high-sensitivity sensor (0.005 lx), enabling it to produce a usable image even in low light conditions. Lower noise levels result in better image quality, and compression is also more efficient. The image in daylight conditions features accurate colour reproduction, and the camera itself switches to night mode later than standard solutions.
Correct operation of surveillance cameras in difficult lighting conditions is one of the top priorities of equipment manufacturers. The dynamic range of the sensor is a parameter which describes the ability of the camera to simultaneously register very bright and dark areas. Cameras with high dynamic range (WDR) perform better when observing frames with high lighting contrast. The image in most WDR-equipped cameras is created by exposing the sensor with different exposure settings (slow shutter for dark elements and fast shutter for bright elements). The resulting image is a combination of both frames and processing based on the algorithms set by the manufacturer.

Compression is a very important parameter proving the device advancement. The better the compression, the lower the bandwidth requirement with the same subjective quality. H.265 (HEVC - High Efficiency Video Coding) is currently the most efficient compression method. Compared to its predecessor (H.264), it reduces the data stream and the demand for disk capacity by half. Therefore, hard drives with a halved capacity can be used, or recordings can be stored for twice as long. Its improved version H.265+ has been optimized for use in CCTV monitoring systems. They allow for further reduction of data streams.

Obscuring selected areas in the frame is an important element of surveillance systems. For this purpose, the privacy zones function has been introduced in the cameras. It allows certain parts of the camera field of view to be made invisible (masked). Examples of places that require this are: windows of buildings, toilets in school or prison bathrooms, etc. If these places were not masked, personnel with access to the monitoring equipment could violate the privacy of the monitored persons, thus breaking the applicable law.
PoE (Power over Ethernet) is the name of the IEEE standard for powering network devices via twisted pair cable while transmitting data. It is possible to supply power to devices such as cameras, telephones, switches, access points, etc. The guaranteed transmission distance for power supply is 100 m. The two most popular standards are 802.03af, which guarantees a minimum power of 12.95 W for end devices, and 802.3at – power of 25.5 W.

PC client software - SmartPSS
SmartPSS (Smart Professional Surveillance System) is an easy-to-use, free software to operate and manage Dahua products on a computer running Windows and macOS operating systems. The software allows you to conveniently perform remote system configuration and then conduct live surveillance. Its intuitive and functional interface also allows you to view and download recordings, perform intelligent search, receive alarm events, two-way audio transmission, visualize the system on an e-map or record to a computer hard drive.
Mobile client software - DMSS
DMSS is an application for the operation and management of Dahua products on Android and iOS mobile devices. It provides a wide range of possibilities for surveillance and basic configuration: live viewing (including multiple channels simultaneously), PTZ control, digital zoom, eavesdropping, playback of archive recordings and handling of alarm notifications. The app allows connectivity via IP addresses and via P2P cloud.
