Key features:
Perimeter security functions (virtual line crossing and entry into a protected zone) are capable of recognising objects of interest. They operate using a deep learning algorithm and can accurately distinguish between people and vehicles. This significantly reduces false alarms caused by irrelevant objects. Recordings can be quickly filtered to isolate these objects.

Traditional motion detection worked by detecting changes in the intensity of light reaching a pixel (or larger groups of pixels) on the sensor. Any such change in light triggers detection, which is why the system picks up movement from objects that are irrelevant from a security perspective. Such motion detection is sensitive to, for example, leaves rustling in the wind, flying insects, birds, shadows or precipitation.
The SMD motion detection system can analyse motion detection events to distinguish between people and vehicles. This ensures that alarm notifications are filtered and unnecessary alarms are blocked.
Active deterrence
The function is designed to deter intruders through visual and audible alerts. The camera is equipped with white LEDs that deter intruders by flashing. Acoustic signalling is provided by a loudspeaker, which can generate specific, predefined messages or an audible alarm that you can record yourself. The camera is also fitted with a microphone, so two-way communication with the person at the camera is possible, for example via a smartphone with a client app.
Compression is a very important parameter proving the device advancement. The better the compression, the lower the bandwidth requirement with the same subjective quality. H.265 (HEVC - High Efficiency Video Coding) is currently the most efficient compression method. Compared to its predecessor (H.264), it reduces the data stream and the demand for disk capacity by half. Therefore, hard drives with a halved capacity can be used, or recordings can be stored for twice as long. Its improved version H.265+ has been optimized for use in CCTV monitoring systems. They allow for further reduction of data streams.
PC client software – SmartPSS Lite
SmartPSS Lite (Smart Professional Surveillance System Lite) is an easy-to-use, free software for operating and managing Dahua products on computers running Windows and macOS. The software allows you to conveniently configure the system remotely and then view live footage. Its intuitive and functional interface also allows you to view and download recordings, perform smart searches, receive alarm events, use two-way audio transmission, visualise the system on an e-map, and record to your computer’s hard drive.
