Details
The Dahua SDT4E425-8P-GB-APV1 camera is part of the WizSense series and is equipped with an AI chip that enables real-time image analysis. Thanks to advanced deep learning algorithms, the camera effectively recognises people and vehicles, thereby eliminating false alarms and improving detection accuracy.

The X-Spans cameras are a state-of-the-art surveillance solution that combines two cameras in a single housing: a fixed-position panoramic camera with a wide field of view and a PT or PTZ pan-tilt camera. This makes it possible to simultaneously monitor large areas and track selected events in detail – without losing image continuity.
Devices from the X-Spans series support intelligent object tracking and offer a standalone mode, which allows both modules – panoramic and PTZ – to be used separately, depending on the system’s requirements.

Key features:
PTZ mechanism
The 5.5–125 mm varifocal lens allows for terrain observation with 25x zoom and offers viewing angles of 52°–3°, enabling high-quality monitoring of vast and distant areas. The camera mechanism allows for a full 360° horizontal rotation at speeds of up to 180°/s (180°/s between presets). Vertical movement is possible within a range of -15° to 90° at a speed of up to 90°/s (90°/s between presets). The auto-flip function ensures that when the camera reaches its lowest point, it performs a rapid 180° horizontal rotation and continues its vertical movement. This enables continuous tracking of objects moving directly beneath the camera.
It is possible to define 300 presets, i.e. saved zoom levels and camera positions, as well as set up 8 movement routes, 5 patrol paths and 5 scans. This allows for precise adjustment of the camera view and programming of its movement.

Linkage tracking
In linkage tracking mode, the panoramic camera identifies an object and determines its coordinates within its field of view. These coordinates are then converted and transmitted to the detailed (PTZ) channel, which automatically positions itself and begins tracking. This process continues for as long as the object remains visible in the panoramic channel. Linkage tracking is characterised by high accuracy – the camera is able to continue tracking even when the object is partially obscured. This tracking method is ideal for monitoring areas with a wide field of view, where a quick response from the PTZ camera to emerging targets is required.

Relay tracking
Relay tracking is a more advanced tracking method that combines two modes: tracking in the panoramic channel and automatic tracking in the PTZ channel. Initially, the object is tracked by the panoramic channel using an intelligent algorithm. When the subject leaves the panoramic camera’s field of view, the detailed channel takes over the tracking using its own Auto Tracking 3.0 algorithm. Thanks to the seamless transition between channels, long-range, continuous tracking of the object is possible, even beyond the panorama’s range. Relay tracking is ideal for situations where the object moves across a large area and may move outside the range of a single camera.
Standalone mode
The device can operate as two independent cameras. The panoramic camera and the PTZ camera constitute two separate channels that operate independently of one another. Different AI functions can be applied to each channel, tailored to specific needs. Furthermore, these functions can be activated according to a set schedule, allowing the camera’s operation to be flexibly adapted to changing conditions or user requirements at different times of the day.

Traditional motion detection worked by detecting changes in the intensity of light reaching a pixel (or larger groups of pixels) on the sensor. Any such change in light triggers detection, which is why the system picks up movement from objects that are irrelevant from a security perspective. Such motion detection is sensitive to, for example, leaves rustling in the wind, flying insects, birds, shadows or precipitation.

The new SMD motion detection system can analyse motion detection events to distinguish between people and vehicles. This ensures that alarm notifications are filtered and unnecessary alarms are blocked. If the system records to a compatible NVR, the footage can be filtered to detect either people or vehicles. The SDM 4.0 feature in the camera is an enhanced version of motion detection, based on deep learning algorithms. Event filtering efficiency reaches 99%, and the detection range has doubled.
Correct operation of surveillance cameras in difficult lighting conditions is one of the top priorities of equipment manufacturers. The dynamic range of the sensor is a parameter which describes the ability of the camera to simultaneously register very bright and dark areas. Cameras with high dynamic range (WDR) perform better when observing frames with high lighting contrast. The image in most WDR-equipped cameras is created by exposing the sensor with different exposure settings (slow shutter for dark elements and fast shutter for bright elements). The resulting image is a combination of both frames and processing based on the algorithms set by the manufacturer.

PoE (Power over Ethernet) is the name of the IEEE standard for powering network devices via twisted pair cable while transmitting data. It is possible to supply power to devices such as cameras, telephones, switches, access points, etc. The guaranteed transmission distance for power supply is 100 m. The two most popular standards are 802.03af, which guarantees a minimum power of 12.95 W for end devices, and 802.3at – power of 25.5 W.
