TERRA fiber-optic multiswitch system
Fiber-optic multiswitch systems can receive DVB-T, DAB and satellite signals and distribute them via optical fibers. Fiber-optic SMATV systems provide much more flexibility compared to those based only on coaxial cable. In addition to the greater freedom in implementing long transmission lines, the installation of the systems is also easier thanks to replacing multiple coaxial cables (5 or 9) by a single fiber-optic cable. It means that the deployments of the shared antenna systems are easier for implementation, especially in existing buildings equipped with narrow shafts or even without such conduits. Along with low attenuation, fiber-optic technology eliminates any RF interference problems. The use of the main TERRA components of the multiswitch system does not shatter the possibility of employing any other types of end-of-line multiswitches.
The set contains:
  • QUATRO LNB dedicated for multiswitch systems
  • Optical transmitter TERRA OT401/OT501
  • Optical receiver QUATRO/QUAD SAT & DVB-T
  • 1x2 FC/APC optical splitter

Reliable multiswitch solutionsin a new opening - TERRA net9
The multiswitches of MV-9XXL and MR-9XXL series have been primarily designed for medium- and large-size SMATV systems, but some models are also suitable for individual antenna systems with a number of outlets.
The die-cast housing provides high screening efficiency (class A) by preventing the penetration of interfering signals to the unit. The die-cast housing provides high screening efficiency by preventing the penetration of interfering signals to the unit. High output levels and built-in compensation of the increased loss of signals at higher frequencies in the distribution cables allow for building large SMATV systems with subscriber lines up to 80 meters.

The built-in LTE filter blocking signals within the 791-862 MHz range eliminates the risk of interference from 800 MHz 4G LTE networks.
The multiswitches are equipped with active terrestrial TV paths. The adjustment of the SAT IF and DVB-T gain is made with dedicated switches. In comparison with potentiometers, this solution increases stability of the adjustments.

DVB-T/T2/C - COFDM TTX-410C R81615 transmodulator is used for reception of DVB-T/T2/C signals, some corrections of TS parameters (regeneration, filtering etc.) and retransmission of them in COFDM format in selected channel in VHF/UHF frequency range. It allows for distribution of digital TV channels in situations when the signal received by the antenna cannot be directly amplified or converted to a different frequency due to high BER and low MER levels. The output DVB-T COFDM multiplex with MER above 35 dB can be distributed to multiple users even within very large networks.
DVB-T/T2/C - COFDM TTX-410C R81617 transmodulator is used for reception of DVB-S/S2 (8PSK/QPSK) signals, selection of desired channels from a transponder, and retransmission of them in COFDM format in chosen channel in VHF/UHF frequency range. Built-in CI interface for conditional access modules enables the transmodulator to operate with scrambled services. In multiplexing mode, one panel receives a whole multiplex (up to 10 or so channels) and converts it to DVB-T multiplex with up to 5 services (max 31 PIDs) with max throughput of 31.66 Mbps. When a higher throughput is required, the system will need next TDX-410C R81617 module(s).
Terra at440 R82511 is a four-channel highly selective tunable RF amplifier capable of filtering, amplifying and equalizing four digital multiplexes (DVB-T) broadcast in the UHF band. Each of the four independent sections can amplify different DVB-T multiplex. It means that one module can amplify four digital multiplexes. The paths are equipped with automatic gain control (AGC) and ultra selective SAW (Surface Acoustic Wave) filters.
The transmodulators can be integrated with other devices:

IPTV Receiver TERRA IF-402HD R81612
IPTV TERRA headend converts DVB-T and satellite channels into IP streams distributed via Ethernet network. Thanks to television distribution technology based on IP, the cabling in a building can be limited only to one (data + IPTV) or two (separate for data and for IPTV) UTP/FTP cable(s). In addition to low cost of such cabling, the users get access to additional interactive features, and the programming can be adapted to their specific requirements.
A great advantage of this solution is also the possibility of comparatively simple and cheap conversion into fiber-optic medium in comparison to RF systems.
One of the main advantages of the Terra IPTV solution is no need for any middleware software between the headend and the receivers. As a result, the system is much cheaper (no software license fees) than other solutions and very simple in both configuration and operation. A unique feature of the system is the fact that the terminal units - R81612 IPTV receivers - do not require any configuration, which can be of great importance in the case of larger networks. They automatically detect any changes in the local network or the programming.
Transmission of TV signals via optical fibersOptical transmitters and receivers (nodes)
Transmission of television signals via coaxial copper cables at distances exceeding a few hundred meters is not an easy task. Of course, the loss can be compensated by a cascade of amplifiers, but the distribution method has its limitations and the use of active devices increases the cost of the entire system. Due to the fact that the cost of typical fiber-optic cables with four fibers is comparable with the price level of high-quality copper cables, it is worth to consider application of the optical medium. Its capability of transmission over very long distances and full electrical isolation between nodes make the main advantages of fiber optic systems.
TERRA mo418 4D31 R82522 optical transmitter is used for transmission of television signals via optical medium. It converts input electrical signals within 47-2400 MHz range, fed with coaxial cable, into optical signal. The power of the optical signal is 6 dBm (4 mW), which is sufficient for feeding several to ten or so nodes (depending on the sensitivity of the receivers). In the case of a point-to-point link, the transmission distance can reach 40 km.

Optical receivers (nodes) convert the forward optical signal into electrical form that is further distributed to the users. Optical nodes with return channel also provide users with broadband access to the Internet.
Recently DIPOL has introduced TERRA OD-005P R81760 optical node. The FTTH receiver is a component of TV antenna systems involving fiber optic technology. The optical receiver features high sensitivity (-6...0 dBm), thus it can be used at the end of comparatively long optical links or with low-power transmitters. The maximum RF output level of 107 dBuV is suitable for distribution of the channels via passive splitters/taps to multiple outlets (up to 50 or so), without a need for an additional amplifier.

DVB-T modulators
For the last two years, analog TV modulators have become a little obsolete. Digital modulators ensure high image quality and standard uniformity in the case of integration with an antenna installation or modern TV distribution system based on a digital headend.
Over that period, DIPOL has introduced a uniform range of high quality DVB-T modulators at competitive pricing, with excellent performance parameters and high reliability. The modulators with HDMI inputs provide excellent solutions for hospitals, stores and shopping malls, supermarkets and electronics stores in which HD content from one or two sources should be delivered to multiple TVs. Such devices are also ideal for MATV/SMATV systems integrated with video surveillance systems - they can distribute the CCTV signal from a modern DVR, containing up to 16 images (in screen division) from security cameras. The images can be watched on any HD television connected to the antenna system.

Fiber splicing has never been so easy!
One of the basic issues connected with fiber optic technology is fiber splicing. Due to the price of the hardware needed to perform these operations, this field of activity was reserved for specialized companies. DIPOL, introducing EasySplicer fusion splicer, has revolutionized the approach to the subject of optical fiber splicing. Its reasonable price, combined with simple operation, allows even less experienced installers to start working in this field.
