DRAKA U-DQ(ZN)BH 12E is a universal fiber-optic cable for indoor and outdoor applications. Single-mode G.657A1 9/125 μm fibers are contained in a central gel-filled tube. The gel in the tube is a kind of protective coating for optical fibers, which absorbs mechanical stresses and protects against environmental factors. The aramid yarn is designed to protect the central tube and fibers from mechanical damage, including risks posed by rodents.

DRAKA U-DQ(ZN)BH 12E contains 12 single-mode fibers (Sumitomo). The color identification of the buffer layers complies with the TIA-EIA-598-A standard. The jacket (sheath) is made of low smoke zero halogen flame retardant polyolefin (LSZH).

Universal cables are gel-filled cables for horizontal connections for both indoor and outdoor use in secondary ducts. Due to its small size and flexibility, the cable is ideally suited for installation in cable trays. It can be installed in both modern FTTH and FTTB systems, server rooms or connections between buildings. Unlike outdoor cable, universal cables can also be used inside buildings. As a result, it is not necessary to create an additional crossing, splices or switch boxes at the junction of the outdoor and indoor cables. Universal cables can be laid in canals, bushings, cable pipes or even directly in the ground where they are not exposed to direct mechanical damage.
