Details
The DVB-T2 TV antenna DIPOL SMART CITY COMBO A2050 is a directional antenna, suitable for receiving DVB-T2 digital terrestrial television in the VHF (174-230 MHz) and UHF (470-694 MHz) bands. +Universal design of the antenna enables the user to freely change polarization of reception V/H for both, the VHF and UHF bands. The antenna is made of aluminum, steel structural elements are galvanized, so they have increased resistance to weather conditions. Black ABS plastic elements ensure stability and aesthetics. The reinforced support (main profile) of the antenna guarantees high degree of mechanical resistance (e.g. to wind or birds).
The H/V polarized DVB-T2 DIPOL SMART CITY COMBO antenna (13 elements), with built-in antenna amplifier with a bypass,
is designed to receive DVB-T2 digital terrestrial television in the VHF and UHF bands.
is designed to receive DVB-T2 digital terrestrial television in the VHF and UHF bands.
The main bar of the antenna is divided into two parts, which makes it possible to shorten it in selected installation scenarios, e.g. when the signal level in the reception area is good, and the antenna is installed on a balcony or in a window. The CITY COMBO antenna in the shortened (compact) version is one of the most compact directional antennas on the market, while offering good reception performance.
Key features:
- designed to receive DVB-T2 terrestrial TV signals
- in the VHF band (channels 5-12) in horizontal or vertical polarization
- in the UHF band (channels 21-48) in horizontal or vertical polarization
- operation in “passive” or “active” mode for VHF and UHF bands
- directional pattern
- 2 mounting versions: "full" and "compact"
- made of aluminum and ABS
- reinforced main profile
- sealed box with an F type connector
- tool-free assembly in 3 minutes
- built-in LTE 700 filter
Installation of the antenna is easy and fast. It also requires no tools. Video installation instructions are available here.
The antenna is equipped with a sealed box with F type connector. The box contains an antenna amplifier with a bypass that allows the antenna to work in two modes:
- passive – default operating mode. The maximum gain of the antenna (the “full” version) is then 4.9 dBi for the VHF band and 12 dBi for the UHF band
- active – activated with 12 VDC power supply required (not included). This allows boosting the signal by approx. 20 dB.
DIPOL SMART CITY antenna is extremely versatile due to its well-thought-out design. The installer or user has a total of 4 combinations of antenna operation: full-passive, full-active, compact-passive, compact-active. The most suitable one can be selected depending on the signal level at the reception site.
The diagram opposite shows the antenna gain characteristics as a function of frequency. The black colour (letter P) shows the antenna gain in passive mode, the orange (letter A) - in active mode, taking into consideration amplifier gain. The installer installing DIPOL SMART series antennas does not have to worry about testing different versions of the antennas by replacing the symmetrizer with the amplifier or vice versa. It is enough at the installation and signal measurement stage to switch on the 12 V on the meter to verify the signal parameters in both antenna modes and choose the more suitable one. For continuous operation in active mode, use a DC 12 V 100 mA power supply.
Compact dimensions in addition to greater mounting capabilities, ensure that there are no problems associated with long-term operation (including less susceptibility to the influence of wind). Compact packaging makes the SMART series antennas easy to transport.
RECEIVING PARAMETERS CONFIRMED BY FIELD TESTS Antenna DIPOL SMART CITY, before its implementation for sale, was subjected to many field tests, including analysis of operation within the range from 10 to 100 km from a 100 kW transmitter. The tests included measurements in locations with different building densities, as well as comparative tests with other DVB-T2 antennas available on the market. Without major problems, reception was achieved at a distance of 50 km from the transmitter (100 kW, low UHF band, terrain profile with no terrain obstacles along the route), with signal power values in passive mode of antenna operation averaging 57 dBμV for 3 channels, while the MER value averaged 33 dB. These values should be considered sufficient for the construction of both individual and community antenna installations.
DIPOL SMART series antennas are convenient to install and stable after installation thanks to, among other things, mounts based on two wide clamps and wing nuts. The distance between the arms of the clamps is 63 mm, so the antennas can be installed on towers, pipes and railings with a diameter of up to 60 mm. The mount is made of 2 mm thick sheet metal. Its design allows one of the ends to be released so that it is possible to mount the antenna on the tower anywhere on it (and not from the top), without having to completely unscrew the nuts. In addition, the mount allows for a 5-stage antenna tilt adjustment to optimize antenna positioning. The graduation increases the stability of the antenna during long-term use - the position once set will be retained, which can be a problem with antennas that offer infinite adjustment in this area (antenna drooping due to wind, birs, etc.).
FAST INSTALLATION WITHOUT TOOLS It takes less than 3 minutes to install the antenna and no tools are required. Thoughtful design makes it easy to install. The antenna reflector is mounted with a quick but secure snap. The antenna box with a loop dipole mounted on a screw with a wing nut. Two wing nuts are included with the clamp. No wrench is needed to tighten them.
HIGH QUALITY MATERIALS The materials used for production will ensure long and trouble-free antenna operation in various weather conditions. Parts of the antenna are made of aluminum, steel structural elements are galvanized, and black plastic elements are made of high quality ABS. The reinforced main bar provides increased resistance to wind and birds. The ABS used has been modified to operate at -30...+80°C. To test the strength of the ABS reflector holder, the end of the top holder was loaded with 25kg. The antenna was not permanently deformed, the mount did not crack or break. The antenna could still be operated.
RECEIVING EVEN 40 KM FROM THE TRANSMITTER High gain of the antenna in passive mode and the possibility of switching on the signal amplifier built in the antenna box cause that the antenna can receive the signal even 40 km from the transmitter. This has been proven in field tests. Note, however, that this depends on a number of factors such as the strength of the transmitted signal, local terrain conditions, local interference etc.
2 OPERATING MODES: PASSIVE AND ACTIVE The antenna's bypass allows it to operate in two modes- passive and active. This makes the antenna universal, and the installer does not have to test different configurations by inserting and removing the antenna amplifier into/out of the antenna box. To switch to active mode, just connect at the TV power supply 12 VDC 100 mA with separator. In the passive mode, antenna works without additional power supply.
Built-in LTE filter 700 The antenna is designed to receive signals broadcast in the UHF band on channels 21-48 (frequency 470-694 MHz). It is prepared for the so called second digital dividend, which assumes use of the band above 700 MHz for mobile services and data transmission. The built-in filter ensures that unwanted signals in the band >700 MHz will not be introduced into the system.
2 "FULL" & "COMPACT INSTALLATION VERSIONS" The main bar of the antenna is divided into two parts, which makes it possible to shorten it in selected installation scenarios, e.g. when the signal level in the reception area is good, and the antenna is installed on a balcony or in a window. The CITY antenna in the shortened (compact) version is one of the most compact directional antennas on the market, while offering good reception performance.
COMPACT PACKAGING Dimensions of the DIPOL SMART CITY antenna packaging: 58 x 22 x 8 cm. It is one of the most compact packaging among this type of antennas on the market. This seemingly less significant fact should please every installer who finds it difficult to transport large antennas in large numbers or with other installation accessories.
There are 10 antennas in a bulk package.
