Ethernet media converter ULTIMODE M-407M changes electrical signals (Ethernet data) coming via typical STP/UTP cables into modulated light signal transmitted via one single-mode fiber.

ULTIMODE M-407M media converter is a reliable device allowing to transmit Fast Ethernet signals in a single single-mode optical fiber over long distances - up to 40 km. The media converter has one SC connector for transmitting and receiving the signal. This is possible thanks to the use of the WDM technique, the so-called wave multiplication, which involves the transmission of independent signals at different wavelengths via a single optical fibre, significantly reducing installation costs. The L11541 set includes two transceivers and two DC 5 V/1 A power supplies.

One device transmits the optical signal in the 3rd transmission window - wavelength 1550 nm, while the second transmitting/receiving device transmits data in the 2nd transmission window - wavelength 1310 nm. The sensitivity of the receiving module in the devices is adjusted to the power of the received optical signal at a distance of 20 km. In the case of using media converters at shorter distances (up to 2 km), it is advisable to apply an attenuator of 2 dB on both sides of the transmission path to protect the devices against "burning out".

ULTIMODE devices have built-in MDI/MDIX auto-detection, so they do not require the use of patch cables and automatically detect and set the speed and mode of data transmission. They operate with a "store and forward" mechanism that checks the correctness of all received data by calculating checksums.

ULTIMODE media converters are fully compatible with IEEE 802.3 and IEEE 802.3u standards. Their installation is very simple thanks to "Plug and Play" feature. The LED indicators show current operating status. Durable laser diode with Fabry-Perot resonator ensures the mean-time-between-failure (MTBF) at least of 100.000 hours (more than 11 years).

When a ULTIMODE device does not cooperate with a switch coming from another manufacturer (e.g. TP-Link), the Duplex parameter of the optical port in the incompatible device should be set to AUTO.

NOTICE!! It is not allowed to look directly at the fiber port when the device is plugged. The radiation invisible for the human eye can damage the retina!
