Hikvision DS-2CE71D8T-PIRL (M75398) is a camera intended for CCTV systems based on HD-TVI DVRs, which generates a high-quality 1080p image. With its high sensitivity (0.005 lx) and a built-in IR illuminator with a range up to 20 m (EXIR 2.0 technology), the camera ensures high-quality recordings and excellent parameters even in low light conditions. The device is also equipped with a PIR sensor for enhanced motion detection. Once the Hikvision camera and the corresponding DVR are correctly configured, detection alarms will only be set off if both the motion detector and the PIR sensor simultaneously detect an event. The optical indicator will then signal the alarm.
The role of PIR detectors in CCTV cameras.
The purpose of the PIR sensor is to improve motion detection. Classical video motion detection relies on image analysis and can result in multiple false alarms, such as those caused by rain or branches swaying in the wind. Many alarms are also generated by the lack of proper lighting. Each unimportant alarm consumes disk space and requires users to go over unnecessary recordings. The PIR detector significantly reduces the number of such events, because it relies on the detection of temperature changes instead.

The PIR function of the camera can be combined with video motion detection once it is connected to a Turbo HD 4.0 DVR. It is necessary to switch on the false alarm filter in the DVR. An alarm and video recording will be triggered only if an event is detected simultaneously by the video motion detection of the DVR and by the PIR sensor. An additional advantage of the camera is its built-in lamp, which allows to illuminate the scene with white light. It has a dual functionality. Firstly, the intruder can be better illuminated, which translates into a higher quality of recorded video. Secondly, the light also has a deterrent effect.
High-quality video encoding
High Definition Transport Video Interface (HD-TVI) is a new technology that allows users to send uncompressed, high-resolution video over coaxial or twisted-pair cables (using dedicated baluns). The transmitted video signal is in analog form, with a bandwidth much greater than in the case of CVBS (SD). As the signal is not compressed, the image is more natural during live viewing. There is no delay and the configuration of such a system is easier compared to IP CCTV solutions.
Clear image in low light
The camera belongs to the Low Light series, with the sensitivity of 0.005 lx. The feature guarantees good image quality even in low-light conditions.
Setup via DVR
The OSD menu of the camera can be controlled using the video signal cable. The control is possible via a compatible DVR: select PTZ control from the menu and switch on the menu of the camera, providing access to all configuration options.
