Johansson 8202 HDMI modulator R86901 is a multi-standard digital device that can modulate the input HDMI signal (up to Full HD 1080p) fed to its HDMI socket into digitally modulated RF signal (called multiplex, mux or transponder) in DVB-C (QAM), DVB-T (COFDM), DMB-T or ATSC standard.
The device is a single-channel modulator, which means that the output digital signal in the form of the DVB-C (QAM), DVB-T (COFDM), DMB-T or ATSC multiplex contains one channel modulated by the source signal. The RF signal can be combined with the rest of the signals in the system by the installer/administrator.
The modulator can be effectively used not only in typical antenna systems, but can also be the basis for a very competitive method of distributing A/V signals to multiple televisions. After the conversion of the HDMI signal to RF range, it can be distributed in an easy way via cheap coaxial cables and RF splitters/taps. Applied e.g. in electronic stores with tens of televisions, the solution is much cheaper and reliable than the use of many HDMI splitters and HDMI cables.
The source of the signal can be, among others, a multimedia player, Blu-ray player, DVR, PC, STB decoder. The modulator can be used to distribute the highest quality content in the DVB-C or DVB-T standard, through TV antenna systems based on coaxial cabling or within coaxial CCTV installations.
The device offers an attractive alternative to installations based on HDMI splitters and cables.
When one needs to distribute signals from two or four sources, we recommend to use a suitable multi-channel modulator.
All parameters of the modulator are set with the use of the knob and display placed on the top of the device.
