Details

TERRA miq-440 R81631 transmodulator converts IP stream (TSoIP) provided in UDP/RTP protocols (unicast/multicast SPTS and MPTS transmissions) and RTSP stream (from IP cameras) to DVB-C QAM standard. One miq-440 R81631 panel receives IP stream with bit rate up to 200 Mbps and creates 4 freely configurable neighboring DVB-C multiplexes, each with maximum bit rate up to 53 Mbps (the limit is determined by the DVB-C standard). In practice, each of the four multiplexes can carry 8 SD channels or 4-5 HD channels. The administrator of the system selects the required channels from the IP stream and forms the four DVB-C MUXes. In each case, it is neceeesary to remember about 10% safety margin when determining the maximum bit rate for the whole multiplex (typically the ultimate bit rate of a multiplex should not exceed 48 Mbps). The output DVB-C QAM multiplexes are usually distributed to users by a passive network composed of RF splitters/taps. Such a solution is especially convenient in modern hotel TV systems distributing a variety of satellite channels, including HD broadcasts.
Thanks to RJ-45 Ethernet port, the programming of the miq-440 R81631 panel is performed via a web browser (no need for a programmer).
The transmodulator can be integrated with other components:
  • media converters, which are used for transmission of IP signals via fiber-optic medium
  • IPTV streamers, which are used for management and distribution of satellite, terrestrial and cable DVB television channels within Ethernet (LAN) networks based on twisted-pair cabling
  • HikVision IP cameras - injection of H.264/H.265 signals into CATV distribution network without a need for additional DVB-C modulators
The R81631 units can be mounted on the R82538 or R82539 DIN rail (also in a RACK cabinet) and powered from DR-60-12 R82532 or UP413 R82533 power supply.
Key features:
  • conversion of IP stream in UDP/RTP technology realizing unicast/multicast transmissions (SPTS and MPTS) to DVB-C QAM standard
  • IP stream reception with a maximum throughput of up to 200 Mbit/s and conversion to any four DVB-C multiplexes
  • implementation of H.264 and H.265 encoded IP camera signals into CATV installations
  • miq-440 creates four adjacent DVB-C multiplexes (4 DVB-C MUXes, each with a maximum capacity of 53 Mbit/s)
  • channel selection and filtering of unnecessary services in the digital stream
  • co-operates with IPTV streamers - enable distribution and management of satellite, terrestrial and cable DVB-TV offerings via a twisted-pair Ethernet (LAN) network
  • USB connection for playback of source material in .ts format
  • simple control interface via RJ-45 port, which greatly simplifies the installation procedure
  • Internet management
  • reading of event history (logs) from the panel
  • AGC function (automatic gain control)
An example of configuring the miq440 module for RTSP streams from HikVision cameras
Miq-440 can create four DVB-C multiplexes (MUXes), each with maximum throughput of 53 Mbps, which is sufficient for support of 16 Full HD IP cameras. In this case, each MUX should transmit signals from 4 Full HD IP cameras. The number of supported IP cameras is limited both by the capacity of the processor (the maximum load should be limited to 90%) and maximum throughput of each DVB-C multiplex (max. 53 Mbps, a safety margin recommended). The device has been tested only with HikVision IP cameras.
