The new family of Signal multiswitches enables the implementation of antenna systems for reception of satellite and terrestrial TV and radio signals in single-family houses as well as small residential and office buildings. The multiswitches are designed to work indoors. Due to star topology, all cables deployed to outlets in the antenna system go from a central node (from a single multiswitch or a group of them). A very high isolation among outputs eliminates the risk of crosstalk between bands and polarizations. The built-in cable characteristics equalization function can compensate the influence of cable attenuation that increases with frequency and cable length.

Due to the passive terrestrial path, we recommend to employ an antenna preamplifier or amplifier that will compensate the attenuation of the path (14 dB) and other passive elements in the distribution network (cables, connectors, outlets). When selecting the pre/amplifier, it is necessary to take into account the signal level from the terrestrial transmitters (depending on their power, distance, obstacles, antenna(s) gain).
The multiswitch has 12 VDC switch in the terrestrial path. When a pre/amplifier is to be powered via the signal cable, the switch has to be set to "12 V ON" position. Otherwise (in the case of a passive antenna or an amplifier with independent power supply e.g. AWS 1/1 F B1216), it must be set to "12 V OFF" position.
The supply voltage in the terrestrial antenna path is switched on by moving the switch up.
The both voltage indicators, in the power supply unit (PSU) and in the multiswitch, should continuously shine.
If after connecting a terrestrial antenna and switching on the power supply the LEDs in the power supply and the multiswitch blink, it indicates that there is a short circuit in the terrestrial antenna path. This can happen when the antenna is without an amplifier (DC-shorted by a balun) or the antenna cable is incorrectly installed (a short circuit between the central conductor and the braid). Then, it is necessary to disconnect the PSU unit immediately and eliminate this condition (by switching off the 12 VDC in the case of the passive antenna, or mending the cable connections).
The flashing of the power LEDs is due to an excessive current in the terrestrial antenna path.
It is necessary to disconnect the power supply unit immediately and eliminate this condition
(switch off the 12 VDC in the case of a passive antenna, or mend the cable connections).

(switch off the 12 VDC in the case of a passive antenna, or mend the cable connections).
The concept of passive terrestrial path with power supply option has some advantages:
- minimizing installation costs in the case of good signal levels
- independent choice of optimal amplifier (e.g. with independent gain adjustments in VHF and UHF bands, possibility to locate it directly in the antenna box or close to the antenna),
- no need for an additional power supply.
The multiswitch distributes signals from one satellite, terrestrial TV and DAB/FM radio to a maximum of eight outlets, so it can feed up to eight single-tuner satellite receivers. A twin-tuner satellite PVR receiver requires two outputs of the multiswitch. In the case of an unused multiswitch output, it should be terminated with the R66205 75 ohm resistor.
In the case of multifamily buildings, we recommend to use SMATV solutions based on TERRA multiswitches of MR-5xx, MV-5xx, MR-9xx and MV-9xx series. High manufacturing standards, stability, reliability - make Terra multiswitches leading market products. They can cooperate with all satellite platforms.
