n-cam 670 M11284 compact camera is equipped with Sony ExView HAD CCD II image sensor and Sony Effio-E digital signal processor. It is characterized by high image resolution, very good S/N ratio, and excellent color reproduction.
Sony ExView HAD CCD II image sensor is a development of the sensor technology used in Sony ExView HAD CCD. It features increased number of pixels and greater sensitivity in both visible and infrared spectrum (increased IR sensitivity around 800 nm and 900 nm).

The application of Sony Effio-E digital signal processor (DSP) extends the possibilities of image processing and in combination with the advanced image sensor used in the camera allows to achieve horizontal video resolution of 650 TVL (color) or 700 TVL (B&W). Advanced video processing features include motion detection zones, privacy masks, digital noise reduction etc.
High resolution of the video allows for enlargement of any part of the image without significant loss of quality; additionally, 2D - NR (noise reduction) minimizes blur effects, saving sharp edges of objects.
Good quality of an enlarged part of the image

Image quality in various lighting is improved by ATR function (Adaptive Tone Reproduction) which lowers the contrast between the darkest and brightest areas and allows to see details in the both parts of the image.

The camera has a built-in IR illuminator (42 LEDs). It allows the camera to work in the absence of external lighting. The camera automatically switches to black and white mode and the IR illuminator switches on when the ambient light falls below the threshold level.
The focal length and focus adjustments are carried out using the controls underneath the camera. The scene can be conveniently set thanks to 3 pivots blocked with screws, which provides stability and the opportunity to reach any direction.
Camera operating parameters can be changed using an on-screen menu controlled by buttons under the cup on the bottom of the body.
The OSD menu contains the following settings:
  • AES and AGC options,
  • white balance,
  • day/night switching paramters (threshold, hysteresis),
  • picture control (mirror image, brightness, contrast, sharpness, color saturation),
  • noise reduction,
  • BLC (back light compensation),
  • Adaptive Tone-curve Reproduction (Digital WDR),
  • 4 privacy masks,
  • motion detection (64 zones),
  • camera name.
Each specific Effio System consists of image sensor and two chips, AFE (Analog Front End) and DSP

The main functions:
  • OSD - displays the camera menu on a display screen, eliminating the need to implement a lot of switches/potentiometers on the rear panel of the camera.
  • ATW (Auto Tracing White Balance) - continuously adjusts camera color balance in accordance with any change in color temperature, allowing the camera to capture color as seen by the human eye.
  • AWB (Auto White Balance) - white color is automatically detected and used for camera color balance. It is suitable for environments with small changes of color temperature, the other ones require to use the above listed ATW function .
  • Anti-CR (Anti-Color Rolling) - reduction of rotating color changes caused by flickering sources of light (e.g. fluorescent lamps), which cannot be eliminated by external synchronization with the power network (usually due to powering the camera with DC power source).
  • AWC (Auto White Color/Circuit) - adjustment of the white balance to a "standard" white area/object. The calibration should be repeated when the lighting conditions have been changed.
  • AGC (Automatic Gain Control) - maintains a constant output level, increasing the signal to noise ratio. The picture is more clear but less natural. Without this function (AGC OFF) the image is generally more natural, but more grainy.
  • EE/AI (Electronic Shutter) - in EE mode it adapts the exposure time to the light intensity. In AI mode, the exposure time is constant (1/60 or 1/50 s) and level of incident light intensity is regulated by auto-iris lens (Auto Iris).
  • BLC (Backlight Compensation) - automatically adjusts the level of bright light in order to provide more detail in dark areas. A good example is the image a human's face in the background of the sun shining from behind.
  • HLC (High Light Compensation) - masks extremely bright areas such as car headlights.
  • Privacy zones - masking areas that should be not visible.
  • AES (Auto Electronic Shutter) - used to adjust the the exposure time to the light intensity (mostly with lens without AI function).
  • DNR (Digital Noise Reduction) - circuit and/or algorithm which reduces noise, thus providing a higher signal to noise ratio. 3D DNR compares subsequent image frames. If, as a result of this analysis, it finds a difference between the images resulting from noise, it removes the very small grains, replacing them with average values.
The camera uses OSD menu. Camera operating parameters can be changed using an on-screen menu controlled by buttons under the cup on the bottom of the body. Due to multiple functions and settings, a very practical feature is setup memory, allowing the installer to save several options, even before the final calibration at the camera site. The camera menu is quite extensive but user-friendly, with easy and intuitive navigation.
Overview of the basic menu settings
The installer/user can change virtually every parameter of this camera, ranging from the video standard, through such parameters like AWB, ES, BLC, ... to the settings connected with DWDR (Digital Wide Dynamic Range) and Day/Night function (delay time, thresholds).
