Details
During thunderstorms, electronic devices are very vulnerable to damages. The risk of over-voltage caused by lightning electromagnetic pulse (LEMP) is present even in distant spots, up to 1.5 km from the place where a lightning bolt strikes.
One of the best solutions is to mount the antenna on a mast whose base is connected to the lightning protection system. The mast should be higher than the antenna mounted on it.
In the event of a discharge, it is discharged via the mast into the lightning protection system. In addition, a TRANS-DATA surge protector must be installed between the GSM repeater and the antenna to protect the device from damage.
The right grounding
To ensure effective protection against ground surges, the protector should be connected to earth with a resistance of not more than 4 Ohm. The connection should be bolted or soldered. It is not permitted to use lightning conductors and gas mains pipes as earthing!
The device protects only the equipment to which is directly connected.
It should be mounted directly to the antenna connector of the GSM repeater, AP etc.
