The device lessens the risk of damage caused by surges in power lines to TV, stereo, computer or other electronic equipment.
Power and telephone lines are massive networks of wires covering the entire globe. Equipment connected to these networks is exposed to various types of interference and surges. Lightning is the most common source of these disturbances.
To protect computer equipment, audio/video equipment, modems, fax machines, telephone exchanges, measuring systems, filtering devices should be used.
The safety extension cord protects audio/video/computer equipment against power surges, especially those cause by atmospheric discharges. It is not recommended to use the cord for powering appliances generating short-lasting surges such as heaters, fridges, vacuum cleaners, etc. The cord has 5 grounded electrical outlets, and 2 for devices not requiring to be grounded.
