Details
The receiver/converter receives optical signal from Opto-LNBF ( A9885, with FC/PC connector) and converts it into RF signals allocated as four SAT-IF polarization/band combinations (VL-HL-VH-HH), similarly to a typical quatro LNB cooperating with multiswitch systems. This type of SMATV systems eliminates the need to lay four coaxial cables between a classic quatro LNB and multiswitches, replacing the cables by a single optical fiber. However, the main advantage is the possibility to transmit the signal in optical form over much greater distances than in the case of RF signals and even best coaxial cables. The attenuation of optical fiber in the second transmission window is about 0.4 dB/km, whereas a high-quality coaxial cable shows attenuation at least about 20 dB/100m (Low Band).
The device is powered from the included power supply unit (output: 20 V / 1.2 A).
The set of Opto-LNBF A9885 and SAT-IF optical receiver/converter A9886 operating in the 1310 nm window provides ideal solution for multiswitch systems. Such combinations offer installers unparalleled freedom in deploying this kind of SMATV systems, both in terms of the distances between signal sources (LNBs) and the distribution equipment (multiswitches), and ease of installation (single, thin fiber optic cable instead of four, comparatively thick coaxial cables).
