This optical module is compliant with SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable / Mini GBIC) standard. It is an optional piece of equipment for TP-LINK managed/web smart switches, for extending transmission distance through the use of optical fibers. The module works with two single-imode optical fibers (in duplex mode). The maximum transmission distance is 10 km.
The SFP optical module uses LC connectors. The main advantages of LC connectors are small size and locking system protecting against accidental disconnection.
The use of media converters with the possibility of exchanging SFP modules is particularly advantageous when it comes to network configuration changes. Instead of replacing the entire unit/s, it is sufficient to exchange the SFP transceiver/s.
