Details
Signal Fire is a rapidly growing company specialising in the manufacture of fibre optic splicers. Based in Chengdu, it employs nearly 200 people. The equipment they offer is built using components from renowned manufacturers. The company's products have found recognition in markets all over the world.
The Signal Fire AI-12 is a model from the range of fibre-optic fusion splicers, representing a further development of the technology used for years in previous-generation models. It combines an affordable price with advanced fibre-optic positioning and splicing technology. Both novice users and advanced, experienced installers will appreciate the ease of use of this device. The quality and reliability of the splicer have been confirmed in a series of tests carried out under various environmental conditions and on different types of fibre.
The most significant change compared to previous models is a significantly higher fibre positioning accuracy of 0.05 μm. This is made possible by higher-resolution cameras and advanced image analysis algorithms. Improved fibre positioning results in even lower attenuation in the splices produced, which places the AI-12 model amongst the splicers that can be used both for subscriber connections and for connections on fibre-optic trunk lines.
Dipol is the official distributor of Signal Fire splicing machines in Poland. Dipol offers a 4-year warranty on Signal Fire AI-12 welding machines sourced through official distribution channels. The authorised service centre in Kraków has qualified staff and a stock of spare parts for all models. The failure rate of this brand’s equipment, when used as intended, is minimal.
The kit includes:
- Signal Fire AI-12 fibre optic splicer
- toolbox
- set of spare electrodes
- fibre cutter
- universal stripper (capable of handling flat cables and cleaning fibres)
- bottle with dispenser
- cleaning brush
- carrying strap for the splicer and carrying strap for the case
- mains charger
The Signal Fire AI-12 utilises the fibre-to-core positioning technique (with the option of positioning relative to the cladding), ensuring the best attenuation performance for the splices produced. The fibres are positioned by 6 high-quality motors. The splicer can be used for laying 100 km of fibre-optic trunk lines, FTTH installations, as well as short point-to-point connections, LAN installations or video surveillance systems based on fibre-optic cabling. The AI-12 model is based on a 4-core processor ensuring a fast response time (the splicer is ready for operation after 3 seconds) as well as short splicing times and short times for sealing the splice sleeves. This splicer is one of the fastest devices of its kind currently available on the market and the fastest in its price range.
A 5.1-inch display with a resolution of 800x480 px and adjustable brightness ensures comfortable operation even in difficult lighting conditions. The optical system offers 320x image magnification, which directly impacts the quality of the splicing process and the visual analysis of the splice being made (viewing in two planes). The minimum splicing time is 5 seconds, whilst the sealing time for 40 mm shields is just 15 seconds.
The universal fiber holders ensure comfort and speed of operations - they can hold 250 μm or 900 μm SM, MM fibers in tight buffer or loose tubes, pigtails, rubber-insulated fibers, multi fiber and DROP cables. The splicing machine offers various programs and Auto mode that works well in most situations.
The splicing machine’s housing is made of metal, with a protective rubber layer on the underside; the welding chamber cover and the heating element are made of high-quality plastic. The set on offer includes a practical case which, in addition to the welder, holds all the necessary tools, the power supply and accessories (stored in a drawer with a removable shelf, mounted on sturdy metal runners). Importantly, there is no need to remove the welder from the case to carry out welding, so you benefit from a solid and stable base. The case itself is made of durable plastic and features a detachable section that can be used as a stool or a small table.
The device is equipped with 7800 mAh rechargeable battery which has enough energy to perform 240 splices with sleeve heating cycles. The battery charging time is only 3.5 h. "Press & remove" design of the battery compartment allows for very fast battery change (there is a possibility to buy a spare battery). Additionally, the AI-8 splicer is equipped with a USB connector for charging a smartphone in the field from this high-capacity battery.
The splicer software allows the owner to enable a so-called "intelligent lock". In this mode, the owner has the possibility to limit the use of the splicer - for example when renting it. The following restrictions can be made:
- the splicer is locked by default; it is necessary to unlock using a pre-defined phone
- the splicer is unlocked to perform a certain number of splices - after that it will remain blocked
- the splicer is unlocked for a specified time (user defines a range of dates); after that, the splicer will remain blocked
![]() | The Signal Fire 15 fibre cutter included in the set allows you to cut the fibre in a single motion. Made from a magnesium and aluminium alloy, it weighs just 252 g. It is fitted with an integrated waste container. It offers easy access to the adjustment screws (from the underside) and the option to remove the bottom cover to access components requiring periodic cleaning. The factory-fitted blade has 24 cutting positions, enabling approximately 48,000 cuts to be made with an average cutting angle of 0.5°.

Configuration can be done using the phone and the Signalfire2 app available on both Android (Google Play) and iOS (App Store). Through the use of the app, the installer has access and the ability to export the weld history to an *xls file. The splicer stores data of 1,000 spplices, data on subsequent splices can be stored in the cloud provided the user registers an account with the Signalfire2 application. Creating an account on the app allows the activation of further electrode sets (this should be done every 3,000 splices) and gives access to smart management functions for groups of splcers. These functions include, for example, the ability to rent a device for a certain number of days - after which time the splcer will need to be unlocked - or for a certain number of spicing cycles. Other features allow the user to be forced to scan a QR code (they must also have an account with the SignalFire2 app) visible on the start screen when switching on the splicer. This allows the administrator to keep track of when, where and by whom the device is being used. The application also gives the possibility to operate the splicing machine in fully manual mode - i.e. manual positioning of the fibres in two planes.
Notice: the warranty period for the rechargeable battery and cleaver is 12 months.
