TERRA mhi430 R81607 is a multifunctional device that encodes input HDMI signals to IP stream. High-definition signals provided to the HDMI inputs can vary from 720_50i to 1920x1080_60p. The device has three HDMI inputs, RJ-45 output (SPTS IP), and RJ-45 Ethernet control interface. The output can stream three independently configured multimedia streams (H.264 and MPEG-1 Layer II/ AAC encoding) with individual multicast addresses, using UDP/RTP (multicast) or SAP/SDP protocols.
The source signals may come from media players, DVRs, Blu-rays, PCs, STB decoders etc. The IP signal coming from the encoder may be applied to an Ethernet switch to split it among multiple receivers deployed in the wired Ethernet network. The bit rate of the compressed signal at the output of the encoder is limited to 11 Mbps. The IP streaming can be properly decoded by PC computers, laptops, tablets, smartphones running e.g. free VLC application, or by dedicated IPTV receivers, e.g. hd-442 R81612.
One of the main advantages of the Terra IPTV solution is no need for any middleware software between the headend and the receivers. As a result, the system is much cheaper (no software license fees) than other solutions and very simple in both configuration and operation. A unique feature of the system is the fact that the terminal units - R81612 IPTV receivers - do not require any configuration, which can be of great importance in the case of larger networks. They automatically detect any changes in the local network or the programming.
The mhi430 encoder can cooperate with:
- media converters that allow for transmission of the IP signal via optical medium
- IPTV streamers that enable management and distribution of satellite, terrestrial and cable DVB channels within Ethernet (LAN) networks based on twisted-pair cabling
- IP (100/1000 Mbps) to 4x DVB-T transmodulator mix-440 R81611 that converts IP stream to DVB-T COFDM standard
