DRAKA U-DQ(ZN)BH 8G is a universal fiber optic cable for indoor and outdoor applications, with eight multimode fibers in a central gel-filled tube. The gel is a kind of protective coating, which absorbs mechanical stresses and protects optical fibers against environmental factors. The aramid yarn around the tube is designd to ensure protection against mechanical damage, including risks posed by rodents.
DRAKA U-DQ(ZN)BH 8G cable contains 8 multimode fibers (J-Fibre). The color identification of the buffer layers complies with the TIA-EIA-598-A standard. The jacket (sheath) is made of low smoke zero halogen flame retardant poly-olefin (LSZH).
The cable uses OM2 50/125 fibers. OM2 multimode fibers are currently the most popular multimode fibers operating in the first and second transmission windows (850 and 1310 nm). Their attenuation (IL) does not exceed 3.5 dB/km in the first transmission window, and 1.5 dB/km in the second transmission window. Fibers of this type are suitable for 1 Gbps transmission over a range of max. 2 km and 10 Gbps over max. 82 m. For transmission over greater distances, use cables with OM3 fibers.
Universal cables from the DRAKA series are gel-filled fiber optic cables intended for horizontal connections inside and outside buildings. Due to their small size and flexibility, the cables are ideal for installation in cable ducts. They are used in modern FTTH and FTTB systems, in server rooms, and between buildings. Unlike outdoor cables, universal cables can also be used inside buildings. This eliminates the need to create additional transitions, splices and cable distribution frames at the junction of the external and internal networks. Universal cables can be laid in cable ducts or even directly in trenches in the ground (in places where they are not exposed to direct mechanical damage).
