GV-1240 is the member of the newest family of PC CCTV video cards of GeoVision, well known producer of digital monitoring systems.
"Combo" - this name means integration of the previous three products of GeoVision: video card (VG800, GV900, or GV1000) with DSP monitor card (live feed) and 16-channel audio module.
The main parameters are specified in the table. A wealth of information can be found in the user's manual (ca 300 pages) available in English and other languages (option).
The system belongs to the most advanced ones on the market, so it would be difficult to describe here all its possibilities. One of highly professional features is extended mechanism of analyzing images using algorithms counting objects and "following" them (in cooperation with high-speed rotating cameras).
The card can cooperate with external keyboards.
To sum up - GV Combo card is the base for up-to-date system of recording images, combined with audio module (A16) and DSP module for live displaying. The price of COMBO card is much lower than the one of a set of isolated items. Among cards marked with "Combo" sign we will find the next cards yet: GV1120 (100fps recording and 400fps live displaying) and GV1480 (400fps recording and 400fps live displaying).

Video recording - capacity requirements.
To find the most crucial factors influencing possible time of recording we have tested the impact of some parameters of video signal and its processing on the data volume. In the tables below we show results achieved during 24-hour tests of the GeoVision GV1240 card registering smooth images from each of 16 cameras (25fps for each channel). We have taken into account two quality settings: LQ - low (at high compression level), and HQ - high (at low compression level), and two resolutions: 320 x 240 and 640 x 480.

All factors influence the needed disc space, but the biggest difference is caused by change of compression level. It's quite obvious - with higher compression level there is lower data volume to record, but it also lowers the quality of registered material. The second key factor significantly changing data stream is dynamics of an image. Quick and often changing image (traffic at hypermarket entrance) generates much wider data stream than practically static image like in the case of emergency stairway.
