TP-Link TL-WR642G 108 Mbps is a wireless router, integrating router, firewall, and access point. It has been designed to provide internet connectivity to small and medium businesses, as well as to private users in apartments and one-family homes. TP-Link TL-WR642G enables the user to build wireless network quickly and easily and to share Internet connection among a number of computers - ensuring additional protection due to the firewall.
TP-Link TL-WR642G provides set of protection measures:
  • SSID hiding - allowing connections only for the stations with the preset SSID,
  • 64/128/152-bit WEP, WPA/WPA2, WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK, and TKIP/AES encryption
An advatage of TL-WR642G,being completely compatible with IEEE802.11b/g, is "eXtended Range" - the technology of TP-LINK company that allows 2-3 larger range in 802.11b mode, and even 4-9 increase for 802.11g. Additionally, the employed Super G technology enables the user to reach even 108 Mbps transmission speed.
TL-WR642G ensures advanced access control, NAT, and its DHCP server supports static assignment of IP addresses. It is possible to use virtual servers, DMZ, remote managing and logging.
Other functions supporting network security:
  • access control based on MAC addresses
  • filtering of IP, domain, and MAC addresses
  • UPnP, Dynamic DNS, static routing, VPN pass-through
  • traffic statistics
